Has Boris Johnson, who must have understood that Brexit will produce great hardship for the population, decided to kill off the frail and the poor?

Johnson’s administration has produced 44,500 Corona dead. Five times as many as Germany (the per capita figure is even higher at 6.2) and they still haven’t gotten their act together. 

Yesterday, in the supermarket, I was amazed to be the only person wearing a mask. The UK made wearing masks compulsory in public transport as late as 15 June and it still is not compulsory to wear masks in shops. A couple of hours ago, Downing Street has announced that it is “considering mandatory face masks in shops in England”. What morons. 

And if you are unwell in England – tough luck. Seeing one’s GP is almost impossible. Unlike Germany, where you can, if necessary, walk-in to see a GP (with masks and keeping distance etc.) – here you must ring the GP practice, convince the receptionist that you need to talk to a doctor. A few hours later a doctor will ring you back, discuss the matter with you, ask you to send a photo of the problem, upon which you are told what ointment you might take.

Sad. 

British Vulgar Press

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. People buy these newspapers. However, …

these aggressive headlines are weapons and they are meant to act as weapons. In this case they are meant to help destroy the leader of the British Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn. He is leader of Her Majesty’s Most Loyal Opposition, the political party with the second-largest number of seats in the House of Commons.

The Daily Mail is owned by Viscount Rothermere, and the Sun is part of Rupert Murdoch’s empire. These oligarchs’ money influences elections and politics in Britain. Whereas, freedom of the press is a central tenet of democracy, this should not mean allowing the ultra-rich to use their money and influence the results of elections. A way must be found, for democracy to defend itself from such interference.

Brexit and Mass Suicide

Some will disagree, but it seems that what the population of the United Kingdom is doing is a sort of mass suicide. These are rare and when they take place, it is normally a small community – and not a whole country – that undertakes such a drastic measure. It takes a very charismatic leader to convince his followers to choose death over what they decide is a life not worth living. The defenders of Massada are said to have done so to avoid falling in the hands of the Romans, as did many members of other religious sects in more recent history. At the end of the Second World War, a wave of suicides took place in Germany: for some, life without Hitler was not worth living, for others it was the successful Nazi propaganda that instilled such fear of the Russians, which brought about suicides.

The story behind Brexit is well-known by now and does not need repeating. What cannot be said often enough – as it is in the heart of our democracy – is the scandalous dishonesty, with which British politicians (mainly right-wing politicians) push the country into Brexit. At some point, we should seriously ask ourselves where the dividing line is between such lies, to further one’s cause, and treason?

The prominent Yougov polling organisation has, a few days ago, published the following amazing results of their latest poll, in which they polled members of the Conservative (Tory) party:

63% would accept Scottish independence, as a price for Brexit.

59% would accept losing Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland.

61% are willing to accept “significant damage” to the British economy, as a price worth paying for Brexit.

What would be a bridge too far for these morons (Sorry, I meant Tories), is Labour’s leader, Jeremy Corbyn becoming prime minister. 51% will give up Brexit, if that would prevent Corbyn from moving into Downing Street.

Some people you cannot help. If they want to die, they should be allowed to die. But, like with every suicide, there is collateral damage: the people left behind, who are left without a loved one, who feel inadequate for not being able to help in time. In the case of the Brexit mass-suicide, the suicide is forced on us all. And don’t let’s forget it: half of the voters, voted to REMAIN in the EU. Tough luck. They will die too.

PS: I am quite certain that were the same Tories asked whether they agree to Scotland or Northern Ireland going independent, the overwhelming majority would give a very clear NO, under no circumstance, response.

BREXIT – Are the British F*****g Mad?

Unless Britain gets its act together, it will be out of the EU in two days without deal or contract. Instead of committing suicide, British politicians move-on after they screw up, or better said, they have a Destroy and Leave tradition. They leave it to others to collect the remains of what they have destroyed.

David Cameron called a referendum, which was badly prepared, and which enabled a small group of anti-Europeans to deceive the voters into the disastrous Brexit. Once done, he resigned. He had no wish to deal with the ramifications of the disaster he had fathered. His successor, Theresa May – originally a Brexit opponent – who saw an opportunity of becoming prime minister, changed her views and became a Brexit supporter, is about to push the country over a cliff. Now, she is trying to offer her own resignation to opponents in her own party, in return for their votes. So, she too, will go, as soon as she has completed her act of destruction.

Internment Camps ?

Britain’s Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, informed the nation, that employers will be required to report on non-British staff who they employ. Rudd, who asked not to be called a racist, explained that she hopes to “flush out” companies that hire too many foreigners. Pfui.

The next day, it was announced that, whereas the government is hiring many experts to advise on the myriad of Brexit issues it finds itself landed with, the jobs will only be open to Brits. “Aliens”, might give the wrong advice to mislead the UK on its great adventure.

No news on internment camps as yet.

Scottish Nationalism (or any other) - Pfui

There is one more week to Scottish referendum day and the polls seem too close to call. The British government (and opposition!) is panicking and are now offering last minute inducements to the Scottish electorate, with ever more powers to the Scottish parliament, if only they remain part of the Union.
 
Much has been said about the economic viability of an independent Scotland. Many have criticised England for not making it clearer how much they “love Scotland” and how much they wish for the Scots to stay in the fold. What I am missing in this discussion is the disdain, even disgust, for the jingoistic, nationalistic sentiment that is driving this whole campaign for “independence”. It is totally unnecessary and sad. Politicians who develop such feelings in their population and ride them to power should have no place in our society.
